Food Information: Fat
Fat is found both as hard fat and soft fat. Animal fat is usually hard at room temperature. Fat provides energy, although it takes much longer to digest than carbohydrates an proteins. It also provides insulation, as fat layers under the skin. Fat is used in food preparation, making food more palatable. Fat provides the body with other nutrients as it contains the vitamins A,E,D and K.

Animal fats sources include lard, suet, milk produce, egg yolk and fish liver oils.

Vegetable fat sources include nuts, kernels, fruit and sunflower oil.
